*In light of doc and nurse shortage in District, Blue stated last night that ‘It is imperative that people stop calling doctors and nurses unnecessarily in mild cases of influenza.’ Shortage due in part to fact that 30,000 docs and 20,000 have been enlisted for service*Blue gives advice for home treatment of such flu cases: put sick people to bed in well-ventilated (but not drafty) rooms; give castor oil or Rochelle salts; clear rooms of unnecessary furniture; if fever, or if coughs up blood or difficulty breathing, must call doc; collect sputum in rags, not handkerchiefs; burn rags when used up; light diet of milk, egg, oatmeal; little comforts are impt: make sure bed and patient are cleanNewspaper article1
